My Experience at Bir Motors
I visited Bir Motors, 2 Adjoining Hotel Saurab, Raja Road, Maharaj Agrasen Chowk, Dehradun to purchase a silencer for my 2019 Hyundai i20.
I purchased the silencer with its packing and then took it to the place in Raipur, Dehradun where my car was being repaired. The mechanic there raised a concern that the silencer appeared lighter than expected and suggested that I speak to the seller about changing it.
What Happened When I Asked for a Replacement?
I went back to Bir Motors and explained the issue. I was not asking for a cash refund; I wanted a better-suited replacement/upgrade and was willing to provide the packing again.
I was told that the product could not be replaced because the original packing had been opened. I asked how I could provide the packing and said I was ready to restore it. The conversation did not result in a replacement.
During the discussion, I felt the tone became disrespectful. I also made a brief friendly gesture while asking the person not to argue, after which I was told to leave the shop. I then left.
My Main Concern About the Silencer
The concern I was given at the repair shop was about the silencer’s apparent weight/quality. Another local shop later told me that a different silencer could cost around ₹1,200–₹1,500, but that comparison was not a laboratory test or manufacturer verification.
Because I had already paid ₹2,200 and needed the car repaired, I ultimately had to deal with the situation rather than simply abandoning the purchase.

During this conversation, the person asked whether I had a recording/camera and, after I referred to the camera, the response was essentially that they could simply say the product was not theirs. I objected that this would be incorrect and again asked for a practical replacement solution. I was also told that the shopkeeper/mechanic where I was getting the car repaired was not good. The conversation became heated and I felt the way I was spoken to was disrespectful. I made a brief friendly gesture while asking the person not to argue, after which I was told to leave the shop. I then left. I am sharing this review as my personal experience so other buyers can verify the part, brand, specification, invoice and replacement policy before purchasing.”
